This past weekend we took the kids to see
Lichfield Cathedral. I love Lichfield Cathedral. There is just something about the History of the building. There is no where in the US where you would ever see a building that old. See this Cathedral was built in the early 700's AD. That is around 1000 years before the US was even made a country, just to put it in perspective. I like to try and imagine all the people who have pass through this building. I love reading stories about the history and the things which have happen over the last 1300ish years. Here are some of the pictures from our day there. Be warned there are a lot of pictures.

This was a front door to one of the houses leading up to the Cathedral. The people back in the 700 must have been very short.

Lichfield Catherdral. I find the three Spires so fascinating. They stand for each member of the Godhead. And why is that interesting because not many people/religions believe that the three members are each individual beings. Most Religions believe they are one in the same. Lichfield is the only Cathedral in England with Three Spires.

The Children and I outside the Cathedral

Holy Water.

Lee was explaining to Kaylee how this is this mans tomb and that his body is inside this casket. I also find it fascinating how they store these bodies / caskets in the cathedral.

Cheeky Monkey!

They loved climbing on things

Siena and Daddy

Lee was telling them to walk.

Spencer showing off again. I love our little man.

Siena and I

There is a secret (Not so Secret Now) passage way to a room upstairs which overlooks the whole cathedral. Here are Kaylee and Spencer sitting on the stairs to that room.

I love all the beautiful stain glass windows in the Cathedrals

The children and I
These pictures dont do the Cathedral Justice. We were not allowed to use our flash in the building. If you ever get a chance, I would say this cathedral and the historic City of Lichfield are a must see. It is beautiful here.
