So as most of you know we had an eventful weekend. Saturday morning Spencer woke up with a bit of a temperature. Nothing to alert me at all. He is a child these things happen and straight away I gave him some calpol (baby tylenol in the US) it didnt seem to be working and his temperature was slowly increased. So all day I was alternating between calpol and ibuprofen. Through the night his temperature got worse and I stripped him down to just his nappy / diaper. Then Sunday morning he was worse so I took him to the on call Doctor who said he has a double ear infection and a throat infection. He gave us some antibiotics and told us to continue on with the calpol and ibuprofen. So I did. Spencer then had a nap in the afternoon and when he got up he was so warm but he was shivering. I handed him to Lee who put a blanket on him because he was so cold. The next thing we know he is making weird noises and completely limp I look at him and his eyes were rolled back in his head so all you could see where the whites and his lips were going blue. I straight away rang 999 and Lee took him to the kitchen and was rubbing cold water on his head. The paramedic said to lay him straight on the floor with one hand behind his neck after about 2 minutes he started to come to and look around. Saying that I was freaking out would have been an understatement. Plus Kaylee was here screaming and saying I cant watch this I need to leave the room. But as spencer was coming to she was the only thing that would keep him calm. So I made her stay in the room in his line of sight. The ambulance got here after about 4 minutes (which was so fast) and started to give him oxygen. Once he was a bit more stable the then put he and I in the ambulance and took us to the hospital. While we were in the ambulance they took his temp which was 40.4 C or 104.7 F. That is hot. In the emergency room they couldnt get his temp down and said that because he had a seizure they wanted to keep him in for observation. Plus they had said he had tonsillitis. Monday his temp was between 39.4 (103.6) and 40 all day. In the evening he started to go all blue again and was shaking the same as when he had the seizure. He wasnt moving at all. Kaylee was trying to play with him and he would just lay there in his cot not doing anything. I was very worried to say the least! They had all his clothes off him and a fan on him and nothing was working. And then about midnight all the sudden his temperature just dropped. At 9:30 when the nurses did the shift change his temp was 39.4 and when she came back at midnight to check him it was 36.2 (pretty much normal). Come Tuesday morning his temperature had been down all night and through the morning so they said he could come home. He was still and is still a bit lethargic. He wont let me put him down and when I do he just cries. The other thing is that when he looks at you at the moment he looks cross eyed It doesnt look like he is looking at you. This is apparently normal after having a seizure and will go back to normal in a few days or weeks. The seizure was brought on my his temperature being so high but the Doctors have said once you have a seizure then the likeliness of it happening again is extremely high. So we need to be careful with him and his temperature. Thank you to everyone for your concern, your thoughts and your prayers. We really appreciate it so much. It has never been easy with Spencer. From the beginning of his life he has always had something wrong. He has an operation on his eye right after our holiday to the states. Things for him seem to always be difficult. I know we are all tried for a reason though and i know these trials in our lives will only make us closer as a family.

Spencer is looking straight at me in this picture so I can take the picture. I took this on Tuesday morning before we came home he was feeling so much better by this point. But you can see what I mean about his eyes. It doesnt look at all like he is looking at you when he is. His left eye is much worse than the right. But it will sort itself out in a few days.

Monday night Kaylee was trying to play with Spencer but he just could hardly move he really didnt feel well. She is always the one thing that can make him feel better though.

The two of them watching TV on the ward. It was so cute because for the longest time she was holding the earphones on his head because they wouldnt stay on his ears they were too big for him. In the end he didnt want them on anyway and so she just wore them instead. These two really are best friends and have such a great relationship!

We were all scared along with you, you are soo strong and I am sure everyone in the family is as proud as I was to watch you hold it together for your children, you are a wonderful mother and I am sorry you have to go through this with out any of your parents, sisters or brothers! Good thing you have such a wonderful husband! We love you!
Oh my goodness, Alisha! I'm so glad that Spencer is okay now! You must have been so scared, but you are such a wonderful mom to keep calm and do what you need to do for your children. And Kaylee is such a sweet sister! Most sisters are annoyed by their baby brothers, but Kaylee has such a good heart. Hang in there!!
I'm so pleased he is home and on the mend. It's so scary your kids are ill, but Kaylee is such a precious little sister. He is lucky to be in such a loving home.
I'm so glad that Spencer is doing better. I couldn't help but shed a tear in your behalf, I can't imagine seeing my child that way. What a strong, close family you have. I hope all continues to go well and that it doesn't effect your trip in any way.
Holy Cow, girl! I'm so glad to hear that he's doing better. What a special girl Kaylee must be - such a great help for you, I'm sure.

Oh no! We were so sad to read about Spencer's week. We hope everything is going better now. It must be so hard to see Spencer deal with all these trials. It's so sweet to hear about Spencer and Kaylee's relationship.
