Kaylee Marie Whitfield

So I thought I would do a little bit about each child just kind of an up to this point in their lives. Kaylee's will obviously be a bit longer as I have 4 years to write about but I promise it will be in a nutshell. and I will post pics of each of them too. Then I can start from today and do blogs that way.

Kaylee was born December 15 2003 and weighed 5 lbs 12 oz. She was 6 weeks premature and had to spend 2 weeks in the hospital. But she was fine for the most part. Just had a few small problems. Kaylee is a VERY outgoing child. Her whole life she has been so independent. She does what she wants and when she wants. She has had a few trips to hospital over the years. One time we were driving along a country road and Kaylee asked for a tic tac. So I gave her one she was probably about 2 1/2 a few minutes later she said Mommy I cant get my sweetie. I asked her where it was and she said she hid it. I asked her where she hid it and at first she wanted me to guess. Then she told me she hid it in her nose. In fact so far up her nose that you couldn't even see it. I tried to get her to sneeze it out or cough or anything to get it but it just wouldn't come. So we spent 3 hours in the emergency room. Until she finally coughed it out.

Kaylee is very very clever. At 4 years old she knows the whole alphabet and can write every letter. She can count to 100 without help. In fact 100 is her favourite number. She knows how to spell words and can in fact write you a letter if you ask her to. It may take her a bit of time (she gets distracted) but she will write a short letter. In her parent teacher conference last week the teacher was telling me how advanced she is compared to the other students in her class. She knows a lot of Spanish, i.e. numbers, colours and just lots of words. She also knows a bit of French. In fact when we were in Paris last month she kept saying bonjour to the people and the people would start talking to her in french and then look at me and speak french. I then had to try to explain how I don't know a single word of French and yet my 4 year old does. It was a bit embarrassing. I kept telling her to stop speaking in french to the people. Looking back it was so funny but at the time it was so annoying!

Kaylee has also created some characters for a book she wants to write. Yep last November she came to me while I was making dinner and said mommy I want to write a book. I looked at her and said OK Kaylee we will sometime. She said no now here look I have drawn the people for my story Mrs Tomato and Mr Cucumber. So we have a drawing of the characters and she has a million ideas of what she wants the book to be about and someday when either Lee or I get some spare time we will sit down with her and write her book.

Kaylee is in Nursery which is like kindergarten in England. She will start reception (1st grade) in September and she is really excited to go to school all day rather than just from 9 to 11:30 I just hope they can keep her busy enough and she doesn't get bored.

Kaylee is a big girl. I think she will be tall like her daddy and some of my brothers. at 4 years old she weighs 52 pounds and is almost a whole head taller than everyone her age. She wears clothes that are for age 7 - 8.

So I think that is about all for Kaylee at the moment. Other than the fact that she has her own podcast and if you would like to hear it you can go to http://www.whitfields.org/ and click on Kaylee. We will be doing a new one this weekend too all about her trip to France.
